The nearby villages

Almirida is the closest town to Gavolochori – well "town" meaning the closest village with a bodega and a taverna – also had a really nice, small, convenient beach. When it's a 20 minute drive to get water, food, or anything, it's a nice perk when the store is 10 yards from the sea.

This is how empty it is at 10am. Greeks like to sleep in.

Kalyves is the next town past Almirida, and where we went for dinner our first night.
The giant chess set provided endless entertainment for Everett, who kept moving them around and organizing them with deep intent and urgency until he decided it was time to knock them all down, and roll around into them, kicking and screaming "oh no! oh no!"
